WOMEN’S SERVICE BOARD

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

The Women’s Service Board of Fairport Baptist Homes is planning several fundraising trips this year to replace the funds usually provided by the “Plain & Fancy” annual sale which was discontinued.  The first trip this year is scheduled for Tuesday, June 9.  The bus tour will include a visit to Partyka Farm Market, a riding tour of the Country Barn Quilt Trail, lunch at Tillman’s Historic Village Inn in Childs, visit to Brown’s Berry Patch in Waterport, and a stop at the Ridge Road Station.  Bus leaves from Parma Baptist Community Church at 9:00 a.m. and returns there at 4:45 p.m.  Lunch choices are Prime Rib or Turkey with stuffing.  The price per person is $55 (check payable to Women’s Service Board) due by May 23 to Sue Scheirer, 4427 Carter Road, Fairport, NY  14450.  If you have questions, please call Sue (377-3789) or Marie Sandman (425-7528).  Forms are available on the hall bulletin board under Women’s Service Board section.  See Mary Way or Betty Erdmann if more forms are needed.

WOMEN’S SERVICE BOARD

Help is requested from knitters. 7 x 9 inch knitted squares are
needed to make afghans for new residents of the Fairport Baptist
Homes. Instructions are posted on the bulletin board in the hall and
completed squares should be given to Mary Way to be taken there
the first Friday of each month. This is an ongoing project and any
help is greatly appreciated.

WOMEN’S SERVICE BOARD NEWS

Thanks to all who donated items for the Christmas stockings given to the
residents of the Fairport Baptist Home. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The fundraising trips this past season were not as profitable as the
discontinued “Plain & Fancy” sales held previously, although not as labor intensive.

We are looking into other possibilities for fund-raisers.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and taken into consideration.
Please contact Mary Way with your information
.

Remodeling of facilities at the Fairport Baptist Home to provide assisted living
apartments is progressing. Work is continuing on remodeling Fairport Apartments
to provide low income housing for Seniors. Group homes for skilled nursing are
being planned for area sites to handle local people by several organizations.
