Brockport First Baptist Church

News Release:A free organ concert will be presented at the First Baptist Church of Brockport, 124 Main Street Brockport, on May 8, at 7:30 p.m. Two Eastman School of Music students will be performing on an Aeolian Skinner organ which was originally built in 1949 for Harold Gleason, former head of the Eastman School of Music Organ Department, and purchased in 1968 by First Baptist Church.

Jeff Kempskie, a student of William Porter, is currently working toward a Master’s degree in Organ Performance and Literature. He also sings with the Schola Cantorum, accompanies the Eastman Repertory Singers and serves as organist at Webster Presbyterian Church. Annie Laver, a student of Hans Davidsson, is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree. She has received a number of awards including first prize in the 2003 Boston Chapter AGO/Quimby competition for young organists. She teaches secondary organ lessons at Eastman and handles logistics for the department’s annual Eastman Rochester Organ Iniative Festivals.

CONCERTS The Music Committee is pleased to present two concerts in
April and May:

On Friday, April 17, the “Westside Brass Quintet,” comprised of
faculty, students, and graduates of Roberts Wesleyan College, will
present a brass and organ concert at our church at 7:30 PM.

On Friday, May 8, Annie Laver and Jeff Kempskie, organ students
at the Eastman School of Music, will present an organ recital at our
church at 7:30 PM.

A freewill donation will be taken at each concert, which be donated
to a local charity. We look forward to seeing you at these two events!
